Boxers appeared in Germany. The breed is a crossing of German Mastiffs (Bullenbeizter and Barenbeizter) with the Bulldog. The Boxer’s ancestors were strong and agile species of dogs.
Boxers are medium sized. They have a robust and muscular build of the body. The chest is wide, deep and roomy and the legs are set wide apart.
If you are planning to bring a boxer to your family, you should bear in mind that purebred Boxers must have an AKC registration certificate, which is the first thing to consider when choosing a breeder. Remember, there are not only true breeders, but there is an abundance of false income-seeking ones, who deem purity of the breed as the last thing for worry.
There are many non-profit groups of volunteers, which deal in saving abandoned dogs, and in this respect, Boxers are no exception. The breed is hugely popular and it is sadly natural that, the more loved a breed is, the more there are reasons for abandoning dogs.
